The Strengthening Muskegon County Project will provide training and technical assistance to townships and faith-based and community organizations. The goal is to build capacity so that these organizations can build and strengthen collaborative relationships and readily respond to funding opportunites.

The Strengthening Muskegon County Project is based on the belief that organizations rooted in the community have a better understanding of community challenges; are more culturally, geographically and psychologically accessible to high-need populations; can do more with less; and are more able to adapt to changing community needs.

The five underlying objectives of the project are:

An Advisory Committee comprised of representatives from the Muskegon County Board of Commissioners, Muskegon Sustainability Coalition, Community Foundation for Muskegon County, Muskegon County Cooperating Churches, United Way of the Lakeshore, Muskegon Opportunities, Black Minesterial Alliance, Hispanic Communtiy, Muskegon County Homeless Continuum of Care Network, Community Coordinating Council of Muskegon County, Muskegon/Oceana Consotium Workforce Board of Directors provides oversight and direction to the Project to ensure that the needs of the faith based and community organizations and the townships are being met.
